This my 3rd clutch. The stocker was slipping when I bought the bike. I burned a Barnett drag racing in only 2 weeks b/c I didn't line up the arrows on the crankcase. Now I have a Toomey with the stiff springs. It had never even slipped until it went out all at once. I took off in second gear on pavement, riding the clutch all the way out to keep the revs up so it would not bog. After the run, I had to idle back to the starting line.

Shouldn't a clutch at least slip a little before it goes completely out? Shouldn't it take that much abuse?

The stiff springs suck. I'm no weakling, but rapid shifts are impossible. I've got a Barnett and hydraulic kit ordered. Should I use the stiff springs? I still want a comfortable, stock-like feel to the clutch.

Thanks. Sorry for the multi-question, long post.

what do your clutch components look like? if your basket, inner and outer hubs are all worn thats prolly why you are running thru them so fast. what year is your banshee? i would suggest replacing all that shit. itll cost you about 300 bucks to do it. also i would buy a modified shift shaft. makes shifting effortless. get ahold of this guy. he can set you up with all the clutch components and the streetbike clutch for about 400 bucks i think. well worth it. no sense in having power if you cant get it to the ground.

if your on a budget tusk makes some nice clutch kits run 3 stock 3 stiffys ,ive had the barnett kevlar and actually prefer my 29$ tusk over it ,there beefy as hell and the plates are dimpled for oil retention and heat disapation i assume . plus a lifetime gaurentee

fry the bastard and send it back.the lockout is supposed to be the shizznet for drags. whats all this bog and slipping out the clutch talk?

get some bottom end grunt on that she :bolt: i wouldnt launch in a gear that your bike cant pull . you shouldnt be bogging judging by your sig list

It bogs taking off on pavement in second gear, unless I pop the hell out of the clutch. In which case I'm on my ass! I eased into it and rode the clutch out. I don't really drag race that often, but I'd like to win when I do. I got beat by a Raptor with about $2000 in mods....but my clutch was probably frying during the run. I'm gonna re-run him when I get it back together.

As far as my components...I haven't taken it apart yet. I also ordered a basket from magicracing (they only had one kind..the one they make).
