watkins Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 The rear break is squeeking as a move it around. On the last ride I went through a few streams.. does water do this? Anything I can do? Quote
bansheefreak Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 yeah wayer dirt will do this... or could be yor brakes are worn... also if your rear bearings are going bad it will create slop in the rear end and make it rub and squeek... Quote
SICK BOY Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 Water, and mud are the worst for your brake pads.I have found that the red EBC pads work the best in wet conditions. Quote

watkins Posted March 2, 2005 Author Report Posted March 2, 2005 Anyone? Now i am concerned that it may be the axle.. will the brakes squeek like that even if they are not applied? This bike is brand new.. only 4 hours on it so far... could it be the axle? It was submerged in water for about 1/2 hour. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Leaving it submerged in water for a 1/2 hour is definitely not a good thing for it. I run through water all the time but never let it just sit there. The brakes could be squeeking from any kind of dirt residue that stuck to the rotor or pad...it's the same principle as if you have a lot of brake dust on your rotors on a car. They'll squeek until you get that dust off. Is there any play in your rear axle? Does the axle rotate smoothly and without much friction? If it's tight and turns good I would not worry about your carrier bearings. Quote

The bank on the other side was about 1 foot out of water and just quick sinking mud.. so it took a while for me to lug it out of the water. It kinda sounds like the brakes.. so i wont worry then. jmoore Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 My shee is new and it does the same thing after sitting in the garage for a couple of days after riding. No big deal, it goes away after I ride and use the brakes. Is this similar for you? Quote
dave95.1 Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 mine does that when the axle nuts are getting loose, i have to tighten them about every other ride. see if you can wiggle the rotor back and forth at all. Quote

I wouldn't worry about it unless you notice a difference in the way it rides. Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 When I first got my banshee it would squeak like that, and it was also hard to push around. After I rebuilt it the first time it was still hard to push, and the rear brake squeaked.... This last time when I took off the e-brake, I noticed how effortless it rolled around. No more squeaking as well. I think....mind you I ONLY think it was the e-brake dragging. The stupid piece of shit never worked right to begin with. Set it tight enough to hold the bike on an incline, and it would drag while riding. Adjust it so it did'n't drag so bad while riding, and it wouldn't hold shit. Quote
