tsufilmz Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 well you see i put ne pro circuit pipes, boost bottle, and reed spacers on my 01 shee. well thought she was all good and went to start her up. this is the Good part. she fired was running on the left. a fire now and then on the right and then all of a sudden she went wild!!!! she was full blast i tried to shut her down with the key nothing, i had key in my hand she kept right on going! then i resort to handlebar killswitch and nothing she kept right on going. I thought oh shit shes gonna blow after about 40 seconds full blast i pulled the choke and she burbled and died. I am wondering what the hell happened! What should my jetting be for 40*f and riding at around 0-500 ft above sea level (Michigan). Also do you think i should keep the boost bottle and the reed spacers or pull them off? HELP!!!!!!!! Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 check your throttle cable, make sure when you had the carbs pulled back nothing got bound up... if those are your only mods and your in mi., your mains should be in the 290-320 range.stock pilot should be ok, clip forth from top. Welcome and good luck Quote
banshdog Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Like First Banshee said, check the cable. When the throttle is stuck wide open, flick the throttle a little bit, usually will come unstuck. Mine has done that when moisture gets on the slides. I'm in MI as well, mods listed below, 320 mains but pretty sure that i am RICH on the mixture. When I put my PC's on i went up on the pilot jet size. Let us know what happens. Quote

I have to agree with First Banshee. I believe you could be loosing some power with the reed spacers. Quote
sheefreak Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Lose power w/reed spacers? Could someone explain to me why? Quote
richybanshee Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 (edited) I saw this here. Do not remember in what category, or who did the testing. From what I know, reed spacers are for when you put bigger carbs, so that the clutch arm is not in the way. If I'm not mistaken, the guy was using Paul Turner Midrange pipes, timming +4, cool head with 165 static compression. If I'm wrong, just say so. Every body learns from things like this.
