J12480 Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 I have 02' and i have completely dismantled the bike down to frame. I'm having a problem with removing the lower support bushing/bearing for the steering shaft. Do i have to press it out? Can it be saved? Should I replace it? I am also having the frame powder coated along with other parts. Is there anything I should know before I do this? What should I expect to pay? Quote
NickyPap Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 Never a bad idea to add some gussets and eliminate some stock tabs that your not using. -since you went thru all the effort in rippin her apart when you get her all back together you don't wanna be wishin' you did. goodluck and get some pics. 89Steeda Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 The lower bearing is held in by a threaded piece. You need a nut that fits in it to back it out. If you look at it with the top seal out, you will see what I mean. Most any hardware store for the nut. Quote

FORMULASPEED Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 That was just coatings. Today I bought the new dirt wheels theres an add for powder coating. I seen it was in Tecumseh Mi So I called this guy, he wants $250 which includes blasting an prep for 1 stage coat. His 2 stage coat such as Candy colors a lil more. Phone number is 517-403-6368 also has a web site its www.bbcoatings.com Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 I took my frame down to get it sandblasted and powdercoated for just $250. Misty Blue Metallic. For the a-arms and swingarms, etc. it came to $425. I cant wait . But yes, cut off all the excess shit you dont need off the frame, less weight the better, and be sure to get rid of any ugly welds or splatters. Good Luck! Cheers Quote
