2004LEBanshee Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 I have a ithica 12ga feather light and that dam thing has some serious kick. Its only down fall. A t shirt and a fun round off 100 shot trap shoot was death to the old shoulder. Quote
rebelbanshee2 Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 remington 870....very solid affordable shot gun Quote
superchicken Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 agreed that a 870 is a great gun.i personaly have a wingmaster model.good for deer bad for rabbits, too long a barrel for me.i have a few berretta doubles and over unders and there great guns to,but there from the 60's and dont know if there quality is the same.another option is browning.i have an older b-2000 auto, great gun but only shoots high brass.theres alot of options to look at but realy you wont know whats best for ya till you and your bride to be pick them up and handle them and see what fits the both of you best.oh,btw my wife has put down a few deer with a 20 ga. so dont count that out.the 20 is my favorite rabbit gun. dnhyoung Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 I would strongly recommend the Benelli Nova http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/nova.tpl They have all the bases coverd. you can shoot steel shot out of them. They come with 3 different choke tubes; Improved cylinder, Modified Choke, and full. You can't shoot steel out of the full choke. You also have the ability to shoot 2 3/4", 3" and 3 1/2" Magnum shells if you choose too. they are available in both 12 ga, and 20 ga. They also have a recoil absortion system that you can add to the stock for about $90. I've shot alot of different shotguns from a $150.00 mossberg maverick, to my dads $2000.00 Browning Centurion, and I have to admit that i am really impressed with this shotgun, and that fact that the price tag is about $350.00 at the local Bi-Mart. I've had mine now for about 6 months, and have had 0 reliability issues, with many ducks, geese, turkeys & rabbits succumbing to its accuracy. http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/nova-specs.tpl Quote
nater006 Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 The novas are good. I've put countless rounds through my 12 gauge Nova Pump and its always worked perfectly. Even cycles those damn 1 3/4" shells on the pump. The mercury recoil reducer kit for mine was like $50 or something.. maybe $60, don't remember. Good guns though. Absolutely infatuated with this M1014 now though.. Quote
bogart Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 Just head down to your local gun store or Walmart and look at the Remington 870 express combo. I think they are around $300 and come with a slug barrel and a regular barrel. The 870 express is a decent gun and will shoot 3" magnums or 2 3/4" depends on how hard you want it to kick. 306095[/snapback] thats what i got nice first gun Quote
