sjgYFZ200 Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 hey guys, well im selling my shee this weekend probably i cant ride here legally anymore, they made quads illegal...but heres the deal. the quad has been sitting for about a month without being started. so i go to start it today, it kicks over, but it wont increase rpm's above idle. when i give it gas, it just bogs and blows a ton of blue smoke. thinking it was flooded, i took the carb off, and gas poured out all over. it was flooded. so i put it back on, go to kick it over, and it wont start. i pulled the plugs and checked, and i have no spark on either. both are extremely black, with no bare metal for spark travel. also, the tops are corroded a bit. im about to leave to go get new plugs, but here is my question. why would it run earlier, but not now? all i did was unhook the carb from the airbox and engine, and took the bottom part off where the floats are. boonman Posted December 24, 2004 Report Posted December 24, 2004 Is this machine stock? You say "carb". Does that mean you have one carb? Or do you have two? Do you still have the TORS system on the bike? (looks like large units on the top of the carbs) Gas poured out of where? The cylinders? Or from the carb(s) themselves? You need to be more specific here.... Quote
sjgYFZ200 Posted December 24, 2004 Author Report Posted December 24, 2004 ok, yeah im sorry about that. ok its a 98, cool head, boost bottle, (stock) twin carbs, jetted, reeds, dg pipes and silenecers, stock air filter. i only took off the main carb, the one with the choke. when i took the bottom peice off, where the floats are, and where the jet is, gas came pouring out of that. im not stupid, i turned off the gas line so it wasnt coming from the tank. after dumping the gas out of the carb, i put it back on, and figured if they were both that flooded, at least emptying one would be enough to make a difference. so i put it back on, and started kicking. nothing. so the first thing you check are gas, which i knew i was getting, so i pulled the plugs, and kicked it over. no spark. superchicken Posted December 24, 2004 Report Posted December 24, 2004 gas will,be in the float bowl.when you take it off when its on the bike. the gas remaining in the line will leak out.best thing to do is put some new plugs in,and try to start it with out the choke first.then with the choke.and why are quads illeagle?
