Whats the advantage of powdercoating a frame vs painting?

I cant find any shops in my area "Sacramento" that will powdercoat, only 1 and he wants anywhere from 400-500 for powdercoat, but there are tons of paint shops.

Should i just do a regular paint job?

Powdercoat is much much much more durable, harder and thicker and will last a lot longer and won't chip the same way.

$400 to $500 is f'ing insane. That guy ought to be in jail for theivery. I paid $150 for my frame, and that included the paint, the labor and the sandblasting. I dropped it off and got it back for that.

Well i just got off the phone with a place everyone seems to send there stuff to, 5 out of 7 shops i called send there items to this one place and they said they charge $250 for a frame on a basic color.

powdercoat all the way. its so much more durable than paint. 250 is still kinda high but if thats the only place that does it you might be stuck payin that. its still worth it. or you could paint your frame, put it all back together, ride it once or twice and tear it apart and repaint it cuz of all the chips and scratches!! :P

Before I powdercoated my frame I had to touch up the paint after every weekend. Now it takes years to wear through.

Here's another vote for PC
