i was wondering if there was some kind of reed spacers on the shee stock....i just bought a 2002 shee and am trying to figure out what it has done on it already....i bought it from a dealership and they couldnt tell me a lot about it. i already know it has a k&n with outerwear and adapter plate, and a elka rear shock but thats about all i know just from looking......im not ready to tear into it to see of the reed cage is stock, and to see if the reeds have been changed. also could anybody recomend a good exhaust setup to me, ill be riding trails mostly with a little drag racing in the summer. very little racing

all info will be greatly appreciated

I'd really be surprised if someone invested the $$'s in an Elka shock but had stock pipes on it. Post a pic of the engine and the shock so we can try to tell you what's on it. I suggest that you get used to the banshee the way it is before you start to modify it. It seems there is always something that gets damaged when a new rider get's a banshee and when that happens, they can't afford to fix it because they blew their money on something they weren't ready for. Get used to it, then figure out where you want to make the improvements. All the pipes out there make power in different ways so to suggest a pipe isn't really practical until you know where you need the most from the pipe.

What he said!

Don't start modding until you know where you want to end up with your shee. That way you can mod it in a way that will get you where you want to be down the road. If you go out and buy stuff that doesn't do what you want in the scheme of things, you'll be buying and then rebuying to replace. We've all done this to some extent, but the more planning you can do will save you down the road and get you a machine that works how you want it to. ;) Good luck!

im 99.99%sure its a elka rear shock....would send pics but someone has my camera at the time...not sure why it has the costly shock and stock pipes unless the person who owned it before me sold the exhaust seperately. im not looking to do heavy mods on the shee....just little things to get the performance im looking for, i dont want to do so much to it that i cant trail ride it anymore.....just looking to make an awesome trail bike outa it

for trail riding you might want to try fmf fatties or ptr mids. there said to come on the pipe easier and not lose traction because of tire spin. also makes power from bottom to top. just some things iv'e read hear.

ask sredish he has had both pipes.

ot could be part of the gasket flange you are seeing.

as to the shock youre theory is very possible. my has stock pipes, but the guy before me had t-5's and kept them for his other shee. what about the fronts, are they stock?

also welcome to the HQ. as a rule you have to drink one beer for your member number, so youd better get started. :bolt::cheers:

The elka sticker on the stock shock has a placebo effect, it makes you think it's better when it's not. :rotflmao:
