Klotzban1 Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 Hey Everyone, I have been thinking about carb changing and need your input. I run 26mm stock carbs on my banshee right now and have found some 28mm PWK Air strikers (new). My motor hasnt been built up with mods except for a coolhead w/22cc and stock reeds right now. My signature shows some engine add ons that are on my bike at this moment in the performance side. Your inputs are always valued. Is this 28mm really gonna help me that much,...I dont want to put a bigger carb that what I really need. I like the 28mm for the straight up pull on the choke set up. I never messed with a carb setup other than the stock and the 28mm has a choke on each carb. klotzban1 Quote
Redlined Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 Any time you can move up from stock it is going to be good. You just need to plan out your vision for an end result and work towards it. Think about the type of ridding you do and then research the parts needed to get you there. 28s are an improvement from stock. But they may not fit into your final vision. Unless you have lots of money to spend, then ignore what I said and try a little of everything Quote

I hate spending on things that can't be used. My 97 as far as I know has never had port work or rebuild of any kind....What are some signs of port work needed? decon Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 ya i agree, if you dont have motor work done, you should keep the stock carbs untill u get her ported. Quote
Redlined Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 Pull off your carbs and reeds and look at the intake side of your cylinders. You will see grinding marks if there has been work done. If the ports look like they haven Quote
sredish Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 On a stock (internally stock) motor, the stock carbs outperform any other dual carb setup, across the board. With mild portwork, they still perform really well. I wouldn't worry about changing carbs until after you get some engine work done. Quote
Klotzban1 Posted November 28, 2004 Author Report Posted November 28, 2004 Thanks for the info. My stock carbs really work great and I hate to spend on different carbs if I really dont need too. Mild porting seems to be a good start for me. Would you use a trued and weld crank or would that be a mistake? Quote
