txblueshee Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 Mine would do that when the fuel vent hose was pinched.... Mike Quote
Blue Duece Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 if you pull your seat and look close theres a slot for quarters, with a little timer by it, you just have to carry a little change purse with you when you ride...... Quote
Wallynut Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 How hot is shee getting? Vent line/gas cap can cause problem, but usually doesn't take a half hour. Check your fuel and vent for the hell of it. Quote
tlronny Posted November 24, 2004 Author Report Posted November 24, 2004 Someone suggested that coils can go down once theyre hot - is this true ? Quote
ledofthezep Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 if you pull your seat and look close theres a slot for quarters, with a little timer by it, you just have to carry a little change purse with you when you ride...... Well shit, that's probably it. I was thinking fuel-pump, but... Someone suggested that coils can go down once theyre hot - is this true ? If it's not fuel related, then I'd check the coil for sure, possibly cdi--dunno though, kinda weird symptoms you have there.. Have you cleaned your fuel petcock? Quote
tlronny Posted November 24, 2004 Author Report Posted November 24, 2004 All I know is that theres fuel in the carbs so does that rule out vapour lock ? Quote
svtkid78 Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 Sounds like something electrically is going bad. May be coils, cdi, or the insulation of the stator is breaking down. You got to get it to run and cut-off like it does then test those components. Maybe bad wires not contacting eactothe when they expand from heat. Not sure but definatly sounds electrical. Quote
banshee0044 Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 once i saw the topic i thought electrical too...is the key switch bypassed by any chance? my cousin lost his key and just hotwired it....fried the cdi.. could also be the coil or the stator tors still hooked up? Quote
