i need an ethernet card for an older computer 2000 model i believe. anyone got one layin around that they'd swap some cash for?

nic= network interface card, (Ethernet Card, Plug in Cat5 Wire into) PCI = Peripheral Component Interconnect and ISA = Industry Standard Architecture bus... I Guess cause its a 200 comp its a pci...

14.99 :) my next issue is that im across the house from the router. so ill need a long cable. is it possible to make my own? and would it be cheaper?

You do need to look at the slot it going into. I agree, it's most likely a pci slot. Probably doesn't even have any isa's.

 

The pci slot will be white.

a 100' cat5 wire is like 60 bucks. wireless would be more expensive, plus ive already got the wired router. im doin this cause im gonna slowly build a new computer for college, and you cant do anything in college with out a H/S internet connection.

Ya wireless is definately the way to go. It'll probably cost you $100 to go wireless but its so much easier and you'll thank yourself down the road. You could even offset the cost by giving your neighbors access to your web and charging them some money.
