I am about to change out my clutch fibers ,someone told me to sandblast all of the metal plates to help it grab.Has anyone else heard of doing this?

I would just replace the metal disks while your at it. I'm assuming the sanding is just to break the glaze and add texture for more friction kinda like turning break rotors. An easier method might be to put a sheet of sand paper on a flat surface and move the disks in an ossilating motion on the paper to sand and also somewhat flatten the surface.

I wouldn't sandblast a part that needs to be flat, when your done the surfaces will no longer be true.

Measure your steels. If they are .045 there is no reason to buy new ones. If they are much thinner than that.. you might want to just replace them.
