superchicken Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 , i was lookin to get my head ported ya cant get your head ported but you can get it milled<machining a fraction of an inch off the bottom to raise compression> but if you have the cash consider a coolhead or a noss head.changeble domes<combustion chambers>for compression and better cooling for under 300$ Quote
blackT5 Posted October 24, 2004 Author Report Posted October 24, 2004 alright, thanks alot, is noss the best brand head for my application?, is it a real noticable power gain?, and what size domes do i need to still run on pump gas? Im in atl area so im guessing im somewhere in between sea level and 1000 feet. Quote
racer Posted October 25, 2004 Report Posted October 25, 2004 i have a PD head and like it, but ive never run a noss, so i dont know. as for the dome size check THIS out. scroll down a little, and take a peek at the chart. Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted October 25, 2004 Report Posted October 25, 2004 (edited) Welcome, depending how much you what to spend, and what type of fuel you want to burn will help you decide. If your going to run pump gas I would mill the head.Mine cost $25 at the local auto parts. about .030 max. keep your cylinder pressure below 165 psi. if you want more power and run race fuel, get the after market head for more compression and better cooling. blackT5 Posted October 26, 2004 Author Report Posted October 26, 2004 alright thanks, thats pretty cheap for a decent power increase, could any local machine shop do it? and is it a good noticable power increase? Quote
