Meat Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 (edited) First check the spark. Do you know how to check for sparkin' sparkplugs ? You should be able to hear em crackin' whenever they spark. Don't shock yourself Second place to look is the carbs. Remove em and clean em. make sure all the jets are in place and the floats are level\not bent. Check your carb's air screws, turn them in till they lightly seat and count how many turns it takes to seat each of the air screws. They should both be set at the same amount of turns out. 1-1\2 turns out from seated is the ideal setting for em. Write back with what you find or with more questions. Clean your airfilter and put in two brand new NGK B8Res spark plugs in, gapped anywhere from .028 to .031 Edited October 24, 2004 by Meat Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 Mine did this once because of a lean main jet. Check that. Also I believe a bad stator can cause this. Someone correct me if im wrong. Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 Mine did this once because of a lean main jet. Check that. Also I believe a bad stator can cause this. Someone correct me if im wrong. I think a weak stator may cause a weak spark, but i don't know if you could get on the pipe and have it clear up. I think he's got a pluged pilot or air screw. sounds like a lean backfire. Quote
snysideup Posted October 24, 2004 Author Report Posted October 24, 2004 thank you for your help. I will tear into this tonight when i get off work... i will let you know what the out come is. one more thing. i have the tors system disconected, would that have anything to do with it? Quote
winemaker Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 I had this problem last week. My banshee was firing fine on the left side and the right side was spitting and then backfiring. It turns out that my pilot jet was slightly clogged causing me to not be running at the low end but when enough gas made it to the chamber from the main jet, it would start to fire then. Check your pilot jet and while you are in there... clean the whole thing! Good luck Quote
