thebloker Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 I just switched my bike from pro-circuits that came with it, to Shearer inframe pipes. The Shearer's didn't come with o-rings, and the ones in the pro-circuits are unusable. I got the new o-rings for the pipes but now I can't get the pipes on. They slide right on without the gaskets, but when the gaskets are in place, it is almost impossible to fit them to the cylinder. I tried heating the pipes with the oring in place with a torch and it still would not slide all the way on. I am running out of ideas as to what to do. Has anybody had any expierence with this before, any input would be greatly apprecieated, I really would like to get these pipes on as soon as possible to try them out. Thanks for you help guys, thebloker Quote
racer Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 maybe call shearer and see if you ordered the correct orings. the new pipes could use a different size. im not for its just a guess. but worth a try. Quote

Thanks for you help guys, thebloker I use yamaha o-rings on the pipes and i just put some grease on the cylinder and wiggled them until i got the pipes all the way on, also try stanging you bike on the grab bar so you can push the pipe on. kenr74 Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 (edited) I just put some new Shearers on and used the stock Yamaha orings. I had to fight with the pipes but they did finally fit how I wanted. When those things hit, holy shit!! I damn near fell off the back. Edited October 11, 2004 by kenr74 Quote
thebloker Posted October 10, 2004 Author Report Posted October 10, 2004 I'll try the grab bar trick, but I am going to have to have an extra set of hands b/c I have a six pack rack on there. Gotta have something to cool off while I'm out crusin' I just think that it is out of control how hard it is to get these pipes on with the Yamaha rings on, I mean they get so close, yet still it's so far away. Maybe I'll have the old lady hold the bike while I prop it up. Afterall, I did buy her a quad, the least that she could do is make sure mine doesn't fall on me while I am putting on some new pipes. Anybody else got some suggestions? thebloker Quote
J.J. Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 Like a couple of other things in life, you have to lube before penetration... Quote
Big Blue Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 you may still have a small gap between the cylinder and the pipe but it wont be enough to hurt anything. Quote
InFlames Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 No shit man those pipes area mother fucker to install Dont worry once you get the pipes on you still have to slave over stretchin the pipe springs to fit the shearers.. Quote
thebloker Posted October 19, 2004 Author Report Posted October 19, 2004 well, I found out how to get the pipes on the cylinders, just let them sit for about a week and let them think they forgot about you. I went out to the garage today and when they wern't looking, I popped them right on. I think it was because it was cooler outside, I wasn't pissed off, or maybe an act of God, but they went on with no trouble at all. I see what you mean about the pipe springs though, it looks like there is a mile between the two places to put the hooks on. That task will be taken on at a later date, thanks for the help guys, Bloker Quote
