banshdog Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 (edited) Question on bore sizes.... I just recently rebuilt my top end. I had a shop bore my cylinders and order my pistons. I have seen and read people posting #'s such as .20, .30, .60 over. My question is how would i know how much mine were bored? It was the first time they were done, and I'm pretty sure that they were not that beat up. I got wiseco pistons and i went to their website and it lists the bore sizes in incriments of .25mm. Did they bore my cylinders .25 over? Just curious, though someone would know more than me. thanks Edited October 5, 2004 by banshdog Quote
roosthrower Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 well some people are sorta dumb when they post that they are .20 over and stuff like that. they mean that they are actually .020 over in inches. a .010 over motor would be equivalent to a motor bored .25mm over. If people were actually bored out .20 over and had a stock stroke crank, they'd have a motor that was bored 5mm wider than stock giving them a whopping displacement of 403 cubic centimeters. Quote
boonman Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 You can figure out the conversion. 1mm=.0394" So, .25mm=.00985", or .010" overbore..... Ask the shop that did the work. They should be able to tell you Quote
