BenBB Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 That sucks Brooke, sorry to hear it. For the record, I won't throw a leg over mine without a helmet; loading, unloading, whatever. Not as bad as bigwill but I got a concussion with a helmet on, without it, it would have been game over. Quote
Dark Ranger Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 My condolences to Brooke and this guys family and friends. I always hate to hear bad news like this. My rules: No Helmet = No Ride Any Alchohol = No Ride Anything (Medications)that messes with reaction and reasonable thought = No Ride Life is too precious and the ones who really pay are your family and friends. kenr74 Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 It really is too bad that all of his loved ones still around are the ones that will be suffering. Not wearing a helmet is a great way to help weed out the gene pool. Quote

racer714 Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 I cme in hot over a huge set of doubles on my cr250 when I had it and got knocked out my head hit the ground so hard WITH a helment and shattered my collarbone(WITH a chest protector on) and broke 2 ribs and bruised a lung. ALL with protective gear on, Id definitely be taking an eternal dirt nap with out all that shit on.........WORD Quote
00BANSHEE Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Sorry to hear the bad news Brooke. My helmet has saved me more then once. Quote
Brooke Posted September 29, 2004 Author Report Posted September 29, 2004 thanks guys for the thoughts. its just all so tragic. i got some more details...his buddy had just gotten a new quad, and he jumped on to try it out, was only on it for literally a couple minutes when he bit it. you just can never be too careful. and you all are right, its not just about the protective gear, its about being mature and responsible every time you ride. earlier this year i had a friend, who was wearing all his protective gear, get in a bad accident on his quad. just two seconds of bad judgement, decided to race up past his buddy on a dirt road, flipped it, was unconscious, had to be air lifted out. everyone thought for sure he was dead, but he survived....unfortunately he has permanent brain damage, and now has a hard time just doing the simple math needed at his gas station job... ride safe, and ride smart!!
