hey guys ,rode my bike on the weekend and it DIED instantly, have cheaked all wiring , found continuity(unlimited) red/white > green/white ,but none from red to green (zilch) .do i have a stuffed charging coil :(

I don't have the book in front of me to give you the values. The red green is suppose to be around 25 ohms or something and the two whites with stripes are suppose to be around the 120 or 130 area. These are not the right numbers, just close to what I remember. The yellow and black are the lighting circuit.

ok, i've got 110 w/r > w/g, but have nothing at all g > r  sounds to me it may be stuffed (short circuit) in the windings ???. looking for some confirmation on this

White/red to white/green is the pickup coil, should be 94-140 Ohms, so if you got 110 it's ok.

Red to green is the ignition coil of the stator, should be 13.7-20.5 Ohms. If you're sure you have the range selected right on your multimeter (even then if it shows infinite ohms there is a broken circuit, and if it shows zero ohms there is a short circuit), the stator is prolly toast. You might pull it and take a look, could be just a broken solder joint, but if the windings are burnt/cut then you'll probably hafta replace it. Good luck.

The best and cheapest I found is www.rickystator.com. You can get a stock sized replacement with an adjustable timing plate for $125. They have the big 200 watt ones too if you want extra lighting.
