I went riding in Big Bear this weekend, lot's of great trails I will put up some pics soon. I had a 270 main jet and the needle clip up one from the middle and a #25 pilot, if I gas it off idle it will bog and then the rpm's will go up  I messed with air screws but it still did it. S hould I have put in a smaller pilot?

More like a bigger pilot. Your not getting enough fuel off idle and that's causing the bog. Try a 27.5 and see if that helps, if not, then go to a 30.

My mods are FMF Fatty's - power core II silencers- boost bottle - UNI air filter - cut air box lid - twist throttle.

It ran fine down at sea level  All I did was I went for a 280 main and needle clip in the middle- to a 270 main and moved the needle clip up one.

 But I went from sea level to 6000ft above sea level. The higher I go the less air I have Won't a bigger pilot make me too rich

What the guys were telling you was a good assumption, thinking you were lean, not knowing that Big Bear is like 6000+ ft El. I'm sure you had to be way rich, especially if you were running good before. I would think that a #25 pilot would work, but it may have been a bit too rich. Were you turning your air screws out to lean up the pilot (like 3 turns out or so?). If you turned them in that would make it worse. Also you say that you moved the clip up on the needle one position from the middle clip? Towards the blunt end? Cause if you did that you would be making the needle richer which in combo with a too rich of a main and pilot would probably screw you like what you described.

In my experience when you finally get her reved up high enough it will usually pull decent even with a very rich main, but the bottom/mid end is pretty F'ed. This is similar symptoms to when the air filter gets clogged enough to start siverely affect performance. Mostly from experience with my wifes blaster that seems to never be all the way happy with jetting when I take it somewhere after getting the jetting spot on at home. Or, after riding it 2 days in the sand the outerwears get clogged bad.

Yeah, i don't have a clue WTF Big Bear is... and it's gonna be hard to jet right that will take you from sea level to 6,000'. Start thinking Dial-a-Jet!!

Couple of things. First thing I"d do is try different needle positions. Find the best clip position. I'd raise the needle back by lowering the clip. Once you find the best position, then adjust the air screw. The biggest thing though is that you've lost a lot of compression when you went to 6000'. You might want to look into a head w/ smaller domes. That enhance your lower end drastically and get you back to where you were. Give Dave a shout at Noss....

When I got up to Big Bear I had my air screws 3 turns out and It ran like crap, I turned my air screws in so they are only one turn out

and it ran best right there. The needle clip was moved up one tward the blunt end.

You went the wrong way w/ the needle clip. Move the clip away from the blunt end.

hmmmm ....... i always thought that if you moved the needle clip up (towards the blunt end) you are infact lowering the needle causing it lean ur mid-range???

Exactly. A lean mid-throttle will cause hesitation before the powerband....
