KiwiBanshee Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Hi there, trying to sort out a problem with my 'shee having a weak spark and not starting had a look at the flywheel and its rusty and a mess under the cover. Could that be the problem? Can you clean them up?? and also can you remove them without a flywheel puller?? Cheers Quote
J.J. Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 Kiwi, that could very well be the problem, i suggest you take a read through BenBB's excellent Electrical FAQ It'll explain how to test the stator coils in there. Do not even try to remove the flywheel without the correct puller. Your dealer should have them in stock, they are dirt cheap here in South Africa, so I imagine they won't be too expensive in NZ either. Quote

Cheers I noticed mines rusted up and keeps water in there under the black cover that keeps the chain out of site.. I was gonna take some RTV sealant and put around it light coat to keep water out and hope everything stays well.. Im not having any problems yet but i think if water keeps getting in there i will.. KiwiBanshee Posted September 18, 2004 Author Report Posted September 18, 2004 Can I sand the flywheel to remove rust? Quote
J.J. Posted September 19, 2004 Report Posted September 19, 2004 (edited) Can I sand the flywheel to remove rust? Yep, as long as you don't do anything to the hub taper. Also, remember magnets can loose their magnetism by hard knocks. Edited September 19, 2004 by J.J. Quote
