racer714 Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Hey guys , wellmy dynoport 2 into 1 finally came in, so did my proflow kit with foam airfilter. I live in the midwest(chicago area) and have no idea what to jet up to. My quad is stock right now with 200 main jet(tors system removed) PLEASE HELP, Ive heard all kinds of answers from no hjetting required(from dynoport) to going all the way up to 280 or 300!! I was thinking starting at 240, is this too small? please help and thanks alot in advance. This site rules! Quote
itsmyforte Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 30 pilot 300 main but you might wanna try the 27.5 pilot instead, i've had an air leak so mine was more than likely off. all shee's are different, trial and error. the main should be real close though. before you start jetting i would advise getting the following: 27.5, 30 pilots 270-320 mains you should find your spot pretty easily. i run the same mods as you listed cept i have a motofast 2into1 and my lid is off. racer714 Posted August 26, 2004 Author Report Posted August 26, 2004 thanks for the help, itsmyforte, what type of jets (style) do I use with stock carbs, Im assuming the mikuni large hex type for the mains and minuki pilot jets vm28s for the pilots?? thanks again Is there a kit that has a wide assortment of each? where is the cheapest place to get jets? RUNMYTA Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 On a unported Shee 220 mains 25 pilot (stock) and needle on 3rd clip from top. I only run 250 mains on my ported Shee, with motofast 2 into 1, and with cool head w/17cc domes!! 2 into 1 pipes actually flow about the same or a little less than stock pipes. They just help bring the power curve down in the lower RPMS for lowend power Quote
itsmyforte Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 (edited) vito's is the cheapest place that carries both the main and pilots in stock. there may be cheaper but its easier to buy everything in one place. remember after shipping it may be cheaper to buy from your local OEM supplier. but if your buying several i would say the internet shops could save u money. vito's http://carbparts.com/ (they carry everything you could possibly want but don't list price?) racer714 Posted August 26, 2004 Author Report Posted August 26, 2004 hey runmyta, so yo think with the airbox off, the proflow kit with foam filter, (outerwear on the top of airbox), and the dynoport 2 into 1, 240 may be good for me here? thanks Quote
sredish Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 hey runmyta, so yo think with the airbox off, the proflow kit with foam filter, (outerwear on the top of airbox), and the dynoport 2 into 1, 240 may be good for me here? thanks be cautious with a 240 and check your plugs and don't be afraid to richen it. my personaly instinct tells me that's too lean, more like a 270, but try what you feel is best, but remember, jetting is trial and error, if you don't try, then your not getting anywhere. RUNMYTA Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 The 2 into 1 pipe was designed to make the Banshee have more lowend for XC/MX. From all the testing I have done with the 2 into 1 it can not handle all of the extra air/fuel coming in. The pipe uses back pressure to gain the lowend grunt you get. I have tried to jet my shee to run with a K@N and lid off and shee never felt right. To answer your question 240 mains with the lid off should be a good safe starting point, probably 230, alot of it depends on elevation. Like the above guys have said try it and check your plugs. To re-iterate 2 into 1 pipes flow less or equal to stock pipes!!! They just move the torqe curve lower in the RPMs. So why would you put 270- 320 mains on a stock flowing SHee??? Granted taking the air box lid off you should go up 1-2 sizes max! Quote
BenBB Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Damn Runmyta, it's been a while, how the hell are ya? Racer714 listen to Runmyta, he's been running 2 into 1's a long time and would know, not that sredish and itsmyforte don't, just that dual pipes require much bigger jetting than the single (they want to make sure you're not lean and blow it up, and they are dead right, but for a 2 into 1 you won't need to start that rich). Good luck. Quote
racer714 Posted August 27, 2004 Author Report Posted August 27, 2004 that kinda makes sense now that the tech at dynoport told me i dont have to rejet, if it is based on backpressure, not air flow. I meant to say take my airbox lid off, not airbox off. So to cap, should I start out with a 220 or 240? I don't have any 230s around. thanks again Quote
RUNMYTA Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 BenBB, I occasionally browse through to see what up in the HQ! As bad as I hate to admit it, I don't ride the Shee as much as I use to:( But I am doing good! Thanks! Racer714 I would think that the 220 mains would be close but start with the 240 main and run it and pull the plug and let us know what it looks like. P.S. use new plugs! Quote
