bcjones6 Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 (edited) My banshee had been running perfect for about 2 months and all of a sudden it died. When it is sitting still with no load it will rev up, but as soon as you put it in gear and start moving it wont take any gas. It seems to run better if I barely give it any gas. I've changed the plug like six times, every time I take the plugs out they are black and soaked. They appear to be getting plenty of fire. I checked the reeds and they are fine. TORS has been removed and so has the emergency brake. Could someone please help.......... MY SPECS: Yellow 98 Banshee, FMF Gnarly pipes, NOSS Machine super-cool head with 17cc domes, .20 over Namura power pistons, 2mm stroker Wiseco trued and welded crank with Hotrods, Pro-design proflow air filter adapter with K&N airfiler and Outer-wear, Dyno-jet Jet kit, FMF Ram valve, and White Bros boost bottle. I use Klotz oil 32:1 mix. Edited August 25, 2004 by bcjones6 Quote
racer Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 no powerband eh? which one did you got? if its blue its shit. i think sredish said his rainbow-doggytwat flavored one was the best. but seriously, check your mains. how did it sit? was it just chillin in the garage for two months or did it start this in the middle of a ride? you didnt run someone elses oil/gas mix did you? cause when you mix oils in a tank they dont always actually mix. since they arent the exact same weight they will stay seperate and run really funny. give us sum mo details Quote
dlnoss Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 17cc domes in a stroker....wow. Are you using a base spacer plate? What kind of compression are you running? What kind of fuel are you running? Is it smoking a lot? Are the floats stuck from sitting? Quote
bcjones6 Posted August 25, 2004 Author Report Posted August 25, 2004 This problem started on a ride, one of my friends was riding it when it happened. Sorry about the dome size mine are actually 19cc. Although I do mix 93oct 4:1 with 114oct to compensate for high compression. Before the problem the plugs were perfect, so I believe the jetting is on par. I have taken the carbs apart and cleaned them already. Quote
dlnoss Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 You might check the compression to be sure the top is okay Quote
fixitrod Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 I've seen where a pilot jet got clogged and had that same problem. Has the tiniest little piece of junk in it. Quote
decon Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 i seen a problem like this in another topic. dont mix your gas, unleaded and leaded gas arent susposed to be mixed. 19cc domes requre 110+ octane gas. im not sure if thats the problem but u should try it. Quote
bcjones6 Posted August 28, 2004 Author Report Posted August 28, 2004 I rebuilt this motor myself and when I rebuilt it I used that paint on copper gasket to put the case together instead of yamabond, do you think that the case could be leaking somewhere and causing my problems????? I don't see any signs of it leaking, would a compression check of the top end show a leak in the case? My stator and flywheel appear to be corroded, what effect would it have if my stator side crank seal was leaking? Could my stator be bad??? Pickup coil be bad??? It seems to be firing ok, how much spark should it produce??? I have a device that will measure the spark... Any help is greatly appreciated.... Quote
fixitrod Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 That gasket stuff should be fine as long as you didn't miss a spot. You'll need to do a leak down test to detect an air leak. As far as an electrical problem goes your best bet is to get a clymers manual. It will step you through checking just about everything but the cdi. Quote
