Banshee0028 Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Ok, I have a stock rear brake hub (2001) on a RPM Dominator axle. The problem is, it seems like when I put the brake hub on the axle, it is quite a bit loose, but not side to side, just front to rear. I have the axle off now and sitting on the side with the brake hub on it. It slides right on easily but seems like the splines are allowing it to move front/rear about the diameter of a credit card or so.... I spoke to someone who had one for sale and they said theirs did the same thing Is this normal at all for this play in the hub? Quote
rebelbanshee2 Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 the splines are just worn on the hub...mine is pretty bad and probably needs to be replaced Quote
BdBanshee Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 RPM lists this billet brake hub for $80 Quote
BenBB Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 I agree, either the axle splines or more likely the brake hub splines are worn (or both). If you don't have a tapered bearing carrier you SHOULD be able to tighten the axle nut enough to eliminate the movement, just be careful not to overtighten it or you will crush the spacer tube and the bearings will shell out alot faster. Good luck. Quote
