streetshee Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 hi,in germany we can ride the streets on shees, but only if its restricted to 20hp!!!!! (no way man not me!) its because of the exhaust emissions,my question is: could a fuel injection system be added to clean up the exhaust gas enough to maybe pass the emissions test with full power? because then i could run legal and not shittin meself when i see the cops!? streetshee Posted August 11, 2004 Author Report Posted August 11, 2004 dont get me wrong,im not getting confused between fuel inj and catylisator,as i understand, fuel inj is more efficiant (think i spelt that wrong ) than carbs, the only new quads allowed to register for the streets over here is (i mean 2 strokes)have efi.must work for a shee.? Gargamel Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 efi is just a system to control the jetting electricaly. It does nothing to clean up the emissions. A 2 stoke burns oil, thats why they'er so dirty in emissions. Quote
streetshee Posted August 12, 2004 Author Report Posted August 12, 2004 not exactly true, fuel inj is "more efficient than carbs" as i said, the only new 2 strokes allowed here "have" fuell inj!!!!!!!!!! im not dumb an i know 2 strokes burn oil but thats not the point, can someone answer who knows what there talking about please?? rebelbanshee2 Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 yes there are fuel injection kits, but i dont belive it would help emissions because there would still be the problem of unburnt charge leaving the open exaust port...the only way would be DFI, which isnt possible... Quote
slowpokebanshee Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 first of all, I need to know what sort of gases they test for , I live in California, and we test for five gases, here,:HC(hydro carbons), CO(carbon monoxide), CO2(carbon dioxide), O2(oxygen), and NOx(oxides of nitrogen) I am guessing not as strict as here, but If they do not do "road side testing" and it is just an annual inspection, you may be able to "temporarily clean it up" at the expense of performance, for instance: very basic: CO reading compared to O2 reaading, when the mixture is rich CO is high, o2 is low, when mix is lean CO is low, o2 is high, w/out knowing what they test for I can only guess? If your timing is advanced, I would retard, I would also lean out the motor, substantiallly, let me know if any of this helps, and maybe I can advise you more, I work at a chevrolet dealer here in California, so any advise I give I can only syacomes from my experience on working on cars (four stroke, pollution controlled vehicles) but I will help If I can Quote
streetshee Posted August 19, 2004 Author Report Posted August 19, 2004 thanks,i ask our tester man,and find out exactly what they test for, untill then... Quote
slowpokebanshee Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 also check to see what type noise restraints if any are included in emisssions testing? Quote
