Ok I know that B8ES is the stock plug, but with my mods will it hurt to run a little hotter plug?

I have a lot of new B7ES plugs from when i had a blaster for my wife..

My mods are 20cc domes, 110 Gas, Rocket Pipes, V-Force reeds, 30mm D slide carbs, and clamp on K&N Filters??

What does the plug do Hotter or Colder?

The heat range of a spark plug is the operating temperature of the plug.

Going to a hotter plug will not increase performance and will most likely overheat and cause detonation and preignition resulting in melted pistons.

I would stick with the 8ES plugs .

You want to run the coldest heat range you can without fouling , if you are fouling the 8ES plugs you may be a little rich .

A hotter plug does not spark more than a colder plug , the hotter plug just has more porcelian exposed to the combustion which causes it to maintain a higher temp , burning off the combustion residue .

A colder plug has less porcelain exposed allowing it to disapate heat more rapidly to the cylinder head .

The "real" way to tell if you need a hotter or colder plug than your using is by reading the ground strap. The change in color on the ground strap should happen right in the middle of the bend.

Read this thread on heat range for a full explanation.
