TexasQuad Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 I have a 2000 banshee that i had the flywheel removed and replaced the stator. I"ve tried putting the flywheel back on but the nut that goes on the shaft will not stay on. I've tightened the heck outta it and even taken a center punch and tapped the center of the shaft to try to shock it where it would make a tight fit. but it keeps vibrating back off. Luckly i checked it before putting on the stator cover. ANy ideas on how to keep this nut on. I've been told to get a new nut for it and even try threadlock. Thanks, Derrick Quote
Meat Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 there is supposed to be a lock washer underneath that flywheel nut. lock washer it dude. Quote
TexasQuad Posted July 26, 2004 Author Report Posted July 26, 2004 I've looked at a Microfiche and i didn't see a lock nut on it. Thats why i havent tried that option yet. I'll give it a shot. Thanks Quote
Meat Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 (edited) yea thats weird, the fisch im lookin at right now doenst show a lockwasher either, but im positive my banshee has one and I know I didnt put it there. Im lookin at my "Genuine Yamaha service manual" and on page 3-42 it says... Install: *CDI magneto *PLAIN WASHER *Nut (CDI Magneto) And the flywheel nut should be tightened down with a torque wrench to 58 ft-lbs Edited July 26, 2004 by Meat Quote
Oilsmoke Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 The nut in question is a flange nut. and you use a flat washer with it. I would buy a new Yamaha nut and Torque it down. It won't come undone if you do. Quote
