cyberkrazze Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Hi, i'm new here, looking for some advice. Great info here by the way! I have an 01 shee i just got and i find it very hard to shift. It has barnett clutch in it. Is there any kind of adjustment to fix this or is my clutch just wearing out? Thanks. Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 banshee's are known to shift hard, a guy on here named boonman does a mod that helps it a shitload, give him a pm im sure he'll help ya out Quote
sredish Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 can you say, "find neutral" together? when i'm sitting still, it's can be a bitch to find neutral, but get her goin about 40, and neutral becomes much easier to get. Quote
cyberkrazze Posted July 22, 2004 Author Report Posted July 22, 2004 i'm new to the forums but not new to banshees. I've owned an 02 and an 03 banshee, and an 04 YFZ450, which i just sold and purchased this modded banshee. all the other three quads shifted about the same, very easy, with or without the clutch. This one....it's even hard to shift with the clutch, you have to wait a second. This loses a lot of time while racing at the drag. I just wanted to know if my clutch had anything to do with it because my other quads all had stock clutches in them, and this one doesn't. as far as finding neutral, i don't find it hard at all......as compared to riding a predator, now that is a quad that is had to shift! frocashmoney24 Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 hmm, maybe you have some bent shift forks? or a worn out shift star, i dont think it'd have anything to do with the clutch Quote
Maverick302 Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 I have this nasty little problem with mine where the nerf bars prevent my foot from going all the way down so I have to shift, take my foot out from undr the shifter, shift... Quote
boonman Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 I've had a aproblem with my bike since my last trip to Silver Lake. My shifter broke off. I can't find anything!!!! Bike is stuck in third!!!!! One of these days, I'll break away from it all, and weld it back up..... As to your problem, does your clutch disengage properly? SOmetimes, the basket can wear grooves, preventing the clutch from disengaging. Or, bent shift forks. The shift shaft could be adjusted a little out of spec in relation to the shift star. Sounds like you will have to atl east pull the clutch cover, have a peek, and possibly split the cases if everything looks kosher under the clutch cover...... Quote
