Holyman Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 (edited) Changing the tranny oil is a religion for some guys and an occasional "must do" for other guys. The dipstick is only reading trans fluid because the premix oils everything else. You will also want to keep a close eye on your air filter, bushings and bearings, chain and fuel filter/ screens. A regular compression check is a great way of telling if you are on the verge of a blow up. Anything 100 lbs and less means a top end. All in all they are a great quad that will give mny years of trusty service. Just be tuned in to the warning signs. The coolant spitting out on the pipes usually happens after an especially hard/bouncy trail ride, wheelies or hill climbing. Unless the coolant is coming out of the hose with force, it is just coolant getting splashed around until it gets into the o-flow tube and coming out. Basically move the hose or move the coolant bottle. Either way, you should be OK. Edited June 22, 2004 by Holyman Quote

Dipstick, didn't know we had one of those, where the hell is it? the dipstick is by the kick starter and to drain your fluid let it warm up for 4-5 minutes ou drain is under the engine at the back you can see a copper washer under the nut its easy to lose so catch it and make sure you have a pan under it to catch to fluid Quote
mavguy Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Don't forget to check how much pad is left on your brakes, lug nuts, axle runout ( don't bend it worse), Rear brake hose (wears out fast, best to buy braided steel one), LUBE CABLES with graphite powder, or if your cheap, a little squirt of ATF, Flush your rad every year or so, tighten bolts that hold chain rollers on, and the list goes on. Buy a clymer, or a yamaha dealer shop manual ( IE the Holy Bible of Bansheedom) If anyone has any knowhow on electrical crap take a look at my post "no spark". thanks. Strange how we Banshee owners always need tools? Quote
