MULLET~BOY Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 (edited) i painted my plastics with it black i didn't primer i sanded a with fine sand paper to just ruff it up a lil and did about 8 thin coats it came out verry glossy and didn't flake Edited June 21, 2004 by MULLET~BOY Quote
gumby Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 i used the red and bought it from walmart didnt sand didnt prime just washed it real good and painted and when it was done it looked brand new and is very durable Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 I wouldn't paint a helmet with it. The shell can't take the solvents in the paint and it will develop small hair line fractures you could call them. It won't be able to do its job after that. Quote
Banshee169 Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 Fusion is good stuff for plastic, sand them down nice and smooth with 800 grit preferably, wash them, paint them with nice light even coats and let each coat dry thoroughly. After you finish with your color you can get some clear coat and do the same or just wax and polish your freshly painted plastics. Takes some time but is worth it if you cannot afford new plastics. Josh A. Posted June 22, 2004 Author Report Posted June 22, 2004 thanks, so im painting yellow plastics, i just sand with 800 clean, and spray the paint, would it be neccesary to shoot some automotive clear, i dont need the extra durability but would it shine more?how much does it cost per can and what colors does it come in?can i see pics of krylon painted plastic? Banshee169 Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 It looks a bit shinier but makes the paint look deep. You dont need automotive clear, Krylon will work good. I would show you pics of mine but I dont have the capability to post pics yet. Trust me it looks nice though. Quote
Josh A. Posted June 22, 2004 Author Report Posted June 22, 2004 thanks, so should i grab some krylon clear Quote
Banshee169 Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Thats what I did. Just like I said though, resist the urge to lay it on too thick! Quote
