We just got back from Little Sahara yesterday, and while riding on Saturday in order to get my Shee to start when it was warm I was having to hold it at about half throttle and kick the #&$* out of it. So I am now looking at a rebuild, my question is. what kinda mods and parts should be done. I do mainly woods riding, but we also go to LS each year and I want something that will give me the power that I need for sand. (or maybe just want ) Here are what my thoughts were, bore it out .060, advance the timing 4 degress, and send the head out to get port and polished. What do you guys think??? fixitrod Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 Okay, this is a two stroke. The head doesn't get the port and polish. The cylinders do. That is the most power for the money you will see. As far as the head goes you can have it shaved .030" to gain some safe compression. Do not bore the cylinders unless they need it. You won't notice any gain from the bore, you'll just loose the metal to do bores during future rebuilds. Advancing the timing is good also.. 4 to 5 degrees is all you'll need for the woods. 01Flamer Posted May 25, 2004 Author Report Posted May 25, 2004 Sorry about the port/polish thing, I am used to working on V-8s and not 2 strokes, so they are really new to me. The head is already shaved .035. I am running a Dynoport 2in1 pipe. Also what compression pistons should I run?? Someone also told me that reeds are basically all the same (stock vs. aftermarket) was I lied to?? Quote
fixitrod Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Again, on a two stroke there is no certain compression ration piston. Compression is done by head dome design and porting of the cylinders. Vito's makes a piston that may bump compression a little bit but that's it. Quote
