No Limit Powersports Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 OK to start I just got the top end redone (.02 over, vitos power pistons, rings). While apart I had it ported and polished and went down to a 19cc dome. Now I am just finishing my break in. Now, on top end it cuts out and spits and sputters. While apart I jetted up to a 360 main (stock pilots) no air box lid and a kn. I already completely cleaned the carbs and checked everything twice and everythings seems to be hooked up. New gaskets on base of jugs, and on the reeds. You guys seem to always come up with something or at least point me in the right direction. Any advice is appreciated. Quote
ledofthezep Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 You might check for any leaks, have you looked at your reeds? How are your plugs looking? Couldn't tell ya for sure, but when my shee did that, it would only sputter/cough/occasionally backfire at & only at WOT....ended up having to replace the stator to correct it. Not saying that's your problem, but you can get an OHM meter and a clymers and test your stator to see for sure; along with the coil. Quote
No Limit Powersports Posted May 21, 2004 Author Report Posted May 21, 2004 My reeds look ok not sure of any leaks but everything look sealed good and tight. It does it pretty much in the powerband anywhere. It idles fine and putts around just fine but as soon as you nail it it cuts out and pops. Thanks for the suggestions! Quote
sand rocket Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 do you have the tors or a parking brake still? Quote
No Limit Powersports Posted May 21, 2004 Author Report Posted May 21, 2004 I have the parking brake but I think the wires that keep it from throttling when its engaged are cut and the tors are still on but would this make it not run only at high rpms or not at all Could this be a jetting problem (360 main seems like that ought to plenty rich). What about the needle what clip should I be on. I am running new ngk b8es so iam assuming thats not the problem. The air cleaner is freshly cleaned. I am wandering if this is a port problem god i hope not. Quote
sand rocket Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 If the wires are cut try unpluging it form the wireing harness, also unplug the tors. THe 360 main could be rich but you never said what you altitude was. Quote
No Limit Powersports Posted May 21, 2004 Author Report Posted May 21, 2004 Just unplugged the tors plug No change. the parking brake plug is unpluged and cut. Quote
No Limit Powersports Posted May 21, 2004 Author Report Posted May 21, 2004 Finally figured it out It was a loose ignitor on the outside of the flywheel Quote
