Ducman Posted May 14, 2004 Report Posted May 14, 2004 Go to Toomey's Website . Go to the FAQ sectoion and read the answer to the question about "There is a "rich spot" between 4000 and 5000 rpm on the Banshee....." It gives some interesting info on tuning the intake tract concerning sonic waves and why it can be helpful to lengthen the intake tract. The article has more to do with the tube comming up to the carb rather than the tract from the carb to the cylinder where the reed spacer would go, but it is similar in pricipal. I think depending on a particular carb, porting, piston stroke, and reed setup in front of the cylinder it can sometimes make a real difference and sometimes not, unlike the boost bottle/ placebo/ sugar pill. It's one of those things that you have to just try on your setup to see if it helps any, and probably run back to back dyno tests to show if there is a difference. Reed spacers pobably make more of a diference on big carbs, drag porting and when adding more stroke on the crank. Similar to velocity stacks on a V-8 drag car motor. Don't take my word for fact, just the misc garbage stored in my head and pulled outta my ass. Quote
