bansheelover Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 hey guys, im lookin into a +5 longrod and whatnot and i was just wondering if i need to mod my cases for that to work, i know about the spacer plate going on the bottom and that i should get my jugs ported for the best outcome but can this be done in a stock case?? boonman Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 I'm not quite sure what you are driving at here. A LR crank is a +5mm longer rod length. The stroke doesn't change. Wiseco makes a "795" series piston which sets the wrist pin 5mm higher in the piston to accomodate the longer rod length. No case work is needed for this crank. I run one. I know. Now, for a 5mm stroker crank, you will need slight trenching of the case. you can drop in a 4mm, but not a 5. Porting will be needed to fully achieve the power gains of a stroker, but not needed on the LR crank. Quote

Matt A Long Rod Crank Wont increase the engines CC's, the long rod just makes a smaller angle between the centerline of the piston and the centerline of the rod when the piston is at the lowest part of the stroke which reduces the side load on piston skirts and adds reliability and potentially piston life on a high performance ported motor. It also increases dwell time where the piston is at the top and bottom of its stroke. I has the same questions a while back in this thread Quote
