i have a 2003 banshee. This is my ninth or tenth banshee since 1987 when i got my first. I have lost constant fire in my right jug. I have performed all the leak down tests and compression checks. I have gone through the carbs 4 or 5 times. I have checked electrical system. Test results:::: crankcase pressure, lost 4lb's in 30min, compression, 125right 123 left. current situation. idle everything is ok. top end everything is ok. just off idle tilabout 1/2 throttle the right cylinder drops out. a little bit above 1/2 it picks back up and pops a couple of times then is fine throughout the upper range. anyone got any ideas??????????//

Been down this road.

I did everything you did and found out the coil went bad.

Common problem with Banshee coils I herd from another sight.

If you have a freind try his takes 10 minutes to change.

Mine would idle fine but when you would rev it up it would backfire. And would loose firing in either cylinder.

I know alot of people on here are going to say its your carbs and it could be. They want to say change your jets.

But did it run fine with the jetting you had at the same air temp and alttitude before?

Did the problem come on slow like you were riding and you herd a pop all of a sudden then just got worse. This is what mine did.

I bought one off ebay for 25.00.

Try this first its easy. Then look at swaping out your stator with a freinds bike.

I have herd same problems when the stator goes bad. Also check your firing pick up on outside of flywheel. Could have come loose.

Let us know what you found. It will help the next guy out there Im shure.

I agree with vmaxup but also was

Just wondering if your slides are in the wrong carbs (won't run on both cylinders till half throttle)???? Did this happen all of a sudden or after you were working on it.. ??

Hey all,

i just had this problem this past weekend.....

What my problem turned out to be was the electrical harness coming from the stator melted slightly onto my right side pipe stringer....thus is would short it self out and not fire properly.......

Once i found this problem and taped it up...Presto good as new....

While this may not solve your problem......it fixed mine and you described my exact symptoms...

Take a look and see what you find before you drop the cash bomb on non returnable electrical parts....
