TRUTH Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Hey guys, Will the YFZ's shocks bolt onto a banshee and work well? Any other models with shocks that fit the shee/ Frank. Quote
Banshee33 Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 They fit but you have to grind the top & bottom mounts. Do a search there are some pictures to look at. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 This has been a topic on here just as much as if a boost bottle works...YES it will...If you do a search, you can find more than enough details on what needs to be done Quote
TRUTH Posted March 25, 2004 Author Report Posted March 25, 2004 Hey guys, Thanks for the replies. I have done a search and didn't find anything. I guess I'll try again. Thanks, Frank. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 YFZ 450 shocks review Another good one, shows where to grind These will be a great start, read em thoroughly and it should answer any questions you have Quote
TRUTH Posted March 25, 2004 Author Report Posted March 25, 2004 Thanks man, that was great info..I called Works a while back and asked them if Raptor shocks would fit a shee and they said that raptor shocks are about .5 inch longer and would not work. He said you would have to compress them a bit to get them to fit and that would ruin the ball joints and a-arms.. But that sounds exactly like what would need to be done to get the YFZ shocks to fit...Is that ok and in turn do raptor shocks fit on a shee with stock or +2 Arms? I found a set of aftermarket Raptor shocks I would be interested in, but not if they would hurt my machine..Thanks for the help, I REALLY need it!! Frank. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Well, honestly I'm not positive about compressing the springs to get em to fit, but I seriously don't think that is the case though. I believe the most you need to do is grind a little metal out of the mounts to make the mounting bracket slightly wider to accomodate for the yfz450 shock (I think the 450 shock is almost the exact same length as the banshee shock give or take an inch or less). I know they WILL work, and have heard great reviews about them, and they are a cheap alternative to buying a set of works or better shocks...I can tell you that I plan on getting them, simply because I don't do a lot of jumping or riding that would require a superb suspension, so in turn I wouldn't wanna spend a butt load of money on a hardcore setup...something a little smoother would be perfect, especially for a smaller price; and I believe that's what you gain from going with the YFZ450 shocks. If you look hard enough, you can find the shocks going from $150-200... Quote
