badass_r6 Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 i was wondering if anybody here has mounted a battery in a banshee? i know its required for a rz swap. any help or pics would be GREATLY appreciated! thanks in advance... Quote
boonman Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 I used to have some stuff saved on my computer. But it crashed, and I lost it. You need a rectifier, and some other things in order to change the shee's AC current to DC current for the battery. You can get a battery eliminator kit, which willl suffice for the RZ swap.... Quote
badass_r6 Posted March 25, 2004 Author Report Posted March 25, 2004 thanks boonman. actually, im not doin a rz, i just mounted a cbr f4 motor in a banshee. now i need a good battery location, or mounting procedure. i was just using the rz swap as an example. i know you get into some pretty trick stuff, have you ever had to mount a battery in a banshee? also, do you know anybody that does custom exhaust? Quote
boonman Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Sainty builds pipes. I forget who else does. SOme of the builders may know... If you are talking about getting an exhaust for the F4, why not just cut and re-route the stock F4 exhaust. 4-stroke exhaust isn't as critical as 2-stroke by a long shot.. As for the battery, I would suggest hanging it off the rear subframe, or up in front where people mount their coolant resorvoir. I like the rear location. A sealed gel cell would be best suited for it. No mess. And relatively cheap... Quote
badass_r6 Posted March 25, 2004 Author Report Posted March 25, 2004 a sealed gel cell? what is that? and where can it be purchased? is that the type of battery? all i have left of the f4 exhaust is the head pipe, the silencer was destroyed. and just lookin at the pipe, i think i might be better off havin somethin made. boonman Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 A gel cell is a type of battery. Try to find a battery store. WE have them around here, they are simply called "battery". lol Anyways, a car performance shop should be able to make you up some headers. I'm not talkin about some retail outlet, you need to go to some place that actually works on things, not just sells parts... Expect to pay a pretty penny though. I am guessing that custom flanges and what not aren't going to be cheap. Take the stock headpipe with you. I bet they could use it.... Quote
badass_r6 Posted March 25, 2004 Author Report Posted March 25, 2004 thanks alot buddy, you always seem to be ahead of the game! Quote
vmaxup Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 I was thinking the same need a battery for bright lights ect. Dose anyone know how to get the stator to charge the battery? It cant be that hard. Im shure its just a trip to Radio Shack. Thanks Quote
ledofthezep Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 I wanna see some pics of this thing! Couldn't tell ya about charging the battery via the stator. Sounds logical, but electrical shit is not my forte'. Quote
badass_r6 Posted March 26, 2004 Author Report Posted March 26, 2004 i will take some pics as soon as shee's done, i promise! i'm tryin to figure out the chain now. i need a rear sprocket made, and i have no idea where to get that done. Quote
boonman Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 You should just adapt something from what is currently available. Otherwise, it will cost you a fortune.... To charge the battery, one needs a rectifier. The shee puts out AC voltage. The battery will require DC voltage.. I'll have to formulate it up and see what is required. Perhaps a parts list is in order here... Quote
vmaxup Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 r6 i know your looking for a sproket but do have the battery on your shee already? Quote
rebelbanshee2 Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 try sidewinder sprockets. i know they do custom stuff Quote
badass_r6 Posted March 26, 2004 Author Report Posted March 26, 2004 vmaxup- i dont have the battery in there yet, im gonna make up a battery box and just haven't got around to it yet. rebel- thanks, i will check them out. Quote
streetshee Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 the best place to mount the battery is under the nose of her,put a nice piece of alu across the frame tubes (my plate is cable tied with a bit of rubber between it and frame),i got a 10amp in her but of course my stator wont keep it at an optimal level,so i installed an hidden charging socket to wake it up once a week.got a ricky stator at workshop, maybe i buy it soon? does anyone know if i have to change my regulator? the one i got is a 150w regulator,i think? keine ahnung!
