BitchenBanshee Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 Anyone have much problem with the cylinder studs stripping. I've never had this happen before on any of my shees. I attempted to install a new top end with a coolhead and I again stripped two studs. I have a snap-on torque wrench that was calibrated about 6 months ago so that shouldn't be a problem. Clymer recommends 20 ft lbs. Is this too much? Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 When my inlaws did my port job, they stripped out 2 studs too. I think it has something to do with corrosion or something between the steel (cheap steel I'm sure) and the aluminum jug. If the studs are as soft as the rest of the bolts in the banshee, I'm not surprised at all that 2 of mine stripped. 20ft/lbs should be fine. Clymers has done their homework on this stuff. Quote
banshee tuner Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 20 foot pounds is fine cause I torqued mine to 18 then 22 and also used a snap on wrench. Quote
