hey guys. Now that I finally got my bike running again ( it was that damn little "black box" above the left pipe), I want to get a Noss Coolhead. The 20cc domes give an approximate compression reading of 184 Lbs. at sea level on a fresh stock motor. My question is would 100 octane fuel be sufficient for this amount of compression? Second, what's the approximate highest amount of compression I could run on 100 octane fuel? Thanks.

TO be honest I am at about 500ft and run 20ccs. the compression is above 70. According to people here I should be running a race fuel mix but I run 93 octane and haven't had any detonation problems. Yes I took my top end off and checked it recently at oh I'd say I have a good 100+ hours on this top end AFTER the noss head.

I think theres is something more than compression that actually determines safe ranges.

when running standard domes like the pro design or the noss head use .It is a rule of thumb that anay comprssion over 165 a higher octane is needed at 185 pnds you need tto run race fuel or risk predetonation and engine damage . The other things that determine octane needs are the size and shap of the squish area anda good builder can make changes there that will determine the octane rating needs as well
