ok heres the scoup i had a broken shift adjustment bolt and i took it apart to fix it and i ruined the shift shaft seal when i was putting the shaft back in so i got a new seal and put it in. I just got everything back together today and i rode it around a little and then i brought it back in the garage and the shift shaft has some up and down play in it and when u pull it up a little it leaks oil and its a pretty good amount. i went to the stealership and the mechanic said its prolly my shift shaft? but i wanted to check here b4 i believed him. thanks alot guys.

Was it a brand new seal and did you put it in flush?

I mean did you use a socket and tap the socket to seat the seal?

If the seal isn't all the way it, it will leak.

If you did eveything ok, it probably is a bad shift shaft.

Mine was leaking and I put in a new seal and now it is dry.

mines got a minor leak too. im gonna see if some one can tell me how to take the shaft off to see if its bent or not. and get a new seal. depending on how old your shaft is if its warn then it could like shrink ya know? so you may need to replace it.

yeah i got a new shaft and the old one was a little worn and bent slightly. i dont no why the thing would leak with a new shaft and a new seal maybe someeone here can help me with that?? but to answer your question u need to take the clutch cover off and remove the clutch and then the shaft just pulls out if the shifters off.

where is the shift shaft bushing? i cant find it in my book. to remove the clutch u need to take the clutch cover off and then remove the 6 screws and springs on the pressure plate then pull the pressure plate and all the clutch discs off then theres a big nut on the clutch boss that u have to take off and then the clutch boss and basket come off and you can get at the external shift mechanism. it would help if you had a book to take u step by step. the book says u need a special tool but i managed to get by without it. it would make it much easier if you had one though. i dont even know what the name of it is but im sure someone on here does.
