banshee_rider95 Posted March 17, 2004 Report Posted March 17, 2004 the left side spark plug will foul if u run it under 1/4 throttle. i switched the plug boots and it still runs the same on both sides so its not an electrical problem.....the carbs are jetted perfectly cause the right side spark plug is a brown color (not too light, not too dark) any ideas on what would cause the left side to run differently than the right? "thenewguy" Posted March 17, 2004 Report Posted March 17, 2004 did you buy this used or new? if you bought it new then maybe its a clogged get. if you bought it used maybe one piston is borded and the other one aint. maybe one of them has different jets in it. new spark plugs, new gas, the slides are going up syncronized, idel speed is the same. muffler is attached properly( one side doesnt have a big hole in it while the other is as tight as a 10 year old) compression is the same. run those test and let us know whats goin on . Blacksmith Posted March 17, 2004 Report Posted March 17, 2004 If the problem is only in the first 1/4 on the pull then the problem is most likley in the air screws or the pilot jet. Have you checked to see that both air screws are set the same? Have you checked to see that both pilots are the same number? Quote

Have you checked to see that both air screws are set the same? Have you checked to see that both pilots are the same number? Yep, if it's running good over 1/4 throttle and shitty under 1/4 throttle then it's in the pilot jet more than likely. Turn your air screw 1.5 turns out and adjust the pilot jet to run good and "fine tune" with the air screw. While your in there adjusting the pilots, check to see that there isn't any dirt or gunk built up that could be causing problems, chances are there isn't becuase your fouling. If it was clogged it should be leaning out. I've seen it where a bike will run just a tad different on one cylinder than the other. It has to do with the choke letting one side get a touch more fuel than the other and it messes things up. If you have to, and your sure there isn't anything else wrong, then jet the one cylinder how it needs to be, granted the main should be equal, but the idling and such might need a smidgen different or something. I know some people think this is crazy, but I've seen it before with stock carbs. In fact, I bet there's one post a month about the cylinders a little different. Thats one reason I like the single carb, ver easy. Call me lazy. Good luck. Quote
