i blew out my right side crankshaft bearing, and i was wondering if i am going to need a whole new crankshaft or just a new bearing. somebody was telling me that if the bearing blows then it bends the crank so is that shot too? is there a way to tell if i will need a new one through the top end without taking apart the bottom?

Check radial and thrust clearances on the rods(both sides). Check the inner bearings for roughness and noise, they are usually pretty tough. If all ck's well, weld and true the crank and replace outer bearings...Jim
