I had to get your attention somehow..... :(

I'm havning trouble starting and keeping the engine running on my little Raptor.

The bike will turn over, but won't start when using the electric start button. It'll only start by jumping, or bump starting it. (and) After it does start, you have to constantly blip the throttle to keep it from dying (even after being warmed up for 5 minutes).

I'm not vary good at trouble shooting problems w/ this bike. Maybe someone can give me a hand.

things i've tried already.

#1 Charged the battery

#2 adjusted the idle

#3 kept the choke ON to see if it would idle after warm up

Without a doubt your valves need adjusting. Very simple. My youngest sons Rap 80 had the same EXACT problem. I adjusted the valves and it starts by just touching the starter. Throw a new plug, clean the air filter and take the plate with the holes in it from in front of the air filter after you adjust the valves and you'll be good for another season of riding.

What I was thinking, I've seen that problem & cure myself. With any 4choke, I've always been sure to change the plug & clean the filter after break-in AND check the valves. ;)

Thanks guys. That's what i was thinking too(Valve adjustment), but wanted an EXPERT opinion.. ;)

I just don't understand why it would need one so soon. It's an 03 and has less then 5 hrs on it.

Hey Toomey Banshee, you happen to remember what the clearances are?

Thanks again guys!

Thanks for all the help.

:D It was the valves alright. Adjusted 'em, changed the plug, cleaned the air filter, and she started right up.

I was reading somewhere that the exhaust valves are known for going out of wack...

My nephew thanks you too.... :D
