canadabanshee Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 I got a flat tire on my banshee. But dont want to buy a new one. Cause its a studded tire for ice racing. The hole is in the side wall. How should I fix it or should I just put a tude in it if the studs dont go right though it . Quote
Holyman Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 If you can plug it then plug it. Otherwise you can put one of those semi tire patches on it from the inside. Quote
canadabanshee Posted February 14, 2004 Author Report Posted February 14, 2004 Yea I just plugged it. It took five of those rubber things. Never ever did try to use them in the side wall before. Only on the thread part of the tire. I shall see what happens Quote
canadabanshee Posted February 14, 2004 Author Report Posted February 14, 2004 Plugging it did not work. It still leaks. Its a vertical rip in the tire. So when you bounce on it or ride it opens up. I might try to patch it Quote
Meat Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 plugs will work in sidewalls..... when you only need one or maybe two plugs. You said you put in 5 plugs... thats too big of a gash. Ask some of your freinds "who vulcanizes tires". Find a garage that can vulcanize it and your set. Its getting harder and harder to find places that vulcanize tires anymore, cause its illegel to vulcanize car tires now. I have a nice Turf Tamer with a gash in the sidewall that took 7 plugs to fill up. Na... it didnt work. It was worth a shot tho. Quote
