theeechozen1 Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 I figured the chebbie 4x4 springs would be too long for the front? I know that the rears I have in my rig are 3" longer than the older toys so I figured that would give it more lift and more droop, but I would put a lower leaf in to keep it from saggin too much or kinking. With the rear springs it will move the axle 1" forward from the stock 85 location, and the swap I am going to use it will be set up pretty close to how they were set up by the factory in 85. I dont want to shell out 5 bills for a set of alcans or all pros, but I can get the rancho jeep wagoneer springs (44044's) for about 120.00, How do you think those will work? I think they are 54" long, the chebbies 2wd rear springs are 64" that I have planned to put in the rear, and the stock rear toyota springs are 53" that I want to put in the front. Here she is getting ready to be chopped up. Quote
boonman Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 Holy shiz!!!! I thought you were swapping a Chevy. Not a TOy. Sorry bro. All previous commentary on that are retracted!! The Jeep springs are the most common used. And they work... Quote
theeechozen1 Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 No problem Booney, I think I will try the rear packs before I go with the jeeps, If it's not good enough I'll try em them. Quote

boonman Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Oh boy. Other side of the world damn near!!! SAS is te only reliable way to lift a Chevy and get any height out of it. But, if you must keep the IFS, try www.whiplashsuspensions.com and call 'em up. On their site is all the new stuff, but I know they have the old stuff too.... Quote
01bansheefox Posted February 6, 2004 Author Report Posted February 6, 2004 I live like 10min from whiplash already been to there shop, but from other people besides the ones that work there, they are the biggest POS $$$ could buy. They do so much machine work to your frame its not even funny even though they claim they dont. I know a guy who has a whiplash all he did was go over a speedbump and his hole front right side of his truck gave away and slammed to the ground. Also they ride like you have a 10'' body lift going side to side in 50mph winds. But.... they also wanted to charge me $4,000 just for the kit without tires, gearing and just the standard 4 shocks. boonman Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 Holy good god man!!!! What a bummer. I have never personally seen a WHiplash lift. But from doing other IFS lifts, I cannot fathom dropping all that conglomatry (if that's even a word, but you get the jist of it) down to the retarded levels that they do..... There is too much of a flex factor for it.... If you do want to keep the IFS, expect to pay big bucks for a lift if you want over 6". I stil think that a SAS is the best option. I am thinking that with a 6" suspension, and 3" body lift, I don't see any reason why 37" tires won't go on there? With some trimming, 38's wouldn't be a problem..... Quote
