reas11 Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 aight, i just got finished bolting the beast back together, i just put on new carbs.. new intakes and new airfilters, pipes.. afterwards i tried starting it , i got spark nice on both plugs, i def. have compression.. i installed new fuel lines and a pingel . i can see the fuel going to the carb the lines are clear , it wont start .. wtf i checked everything ..kill switch is grounded and into the coil , the coil is fine , i have gas , its on run , the key is on run .. im lost its driving me nuts .. when i installed the new carbs i noticed the slide isnt down all the way , i know that will affect the idle , but could that cause it not to start ? any ideas are welcome i know its probally a minor thing im missing .. thanks reas Quote
boonman Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 You need to draw the fuel out of the bowl and into the engine. if the slide is up to high, the motor will not pull much vacuum, and you won't get any fuel to it. Thus the need for a choke circuit. THis draws vacuum and lets the engine suck the fuel from the carbs easier while starting. Or, it can have a fuel enrichment circuit, like the shee, that draws the fuel through a seperate orifice and directly to the engine. And not through the jets at all. Unlike a "choke". That is my first thought. Second thought, is the fuel getting into the bowl? Is the needle valve working properly? Are the jets installed correctly? Crack a bowl drain to see what is up with the fuel flow. Quote
