excess Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 I just bought an aftermarket shift star which is supposed to make shifting that much more of a breeze and make neutral much easier to find and this thing barely goes into neutral anymore. Could I have done something wrong. It tends to skip 95 % of the time from 1 to 2 when trying to get neutral and it is really harsh on my foot it feels like something is broken but everything is ok. Could I have done something wrong? Quote
evil Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 ive never heard or had a problem with a modified stock shift star. what company makes your aftermarket one and if you dont mind me askin, how much was it ? its a pretty simple straight forward shot installing it. boonman might be better to help with this, but something dosent seem right, is the tranny ok ? any poping coming out of it while your riding ? boonman Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 The detent could be cut wrong on the star, but that is unlikely. It should go in smoothly. DOes it shift alright otherwise? Did you adjust the shift lever as per the instructions in the clymer? Quote
excess Posted January 12, 2004 Author Report Posted January 12, 2004 I bought it from www.rmwbillet.com and it was about 30 bucks shipped I figured it would be less time consuming to just swap it out than have to take mine somewhere to machine it. I am sure it was installed right its only a phillips screw. Quote
