thecabinboy Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 Anyone got a trick on how to this easy. This has to be the worst part to install on the bike and the bigger stator ain't helping. I just gave up after about a hour of messing with it, I give up for now maybe tomorrow they will feel like going together. F- it for now! Quote
Screamin_Banshee Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 silicone, just a lil, then tap it into place and let sit up for a bit.... Quote
broke Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 I agree, silicone works wonders. I know what you mean about the bigger stator. I have the RZ stator on mine. You can't reach it with your finger like the stock one. Put some silicone on it, get it into place(I have to use a small screwdriver), let it dry, and just install the flywheel. It has worked every time for me. broke Quote
thecabinboy Posted January 9, 2004 Author Report Posted January 9, 2004 Silicone trick worked slicker than snail snot. Thanks boys you guys saved me 3 days of dicking' with it (this ain't my first rodeo). Usually I avoid that side of the case like the plague, but I put new smaller domes and the timing was set at +7 so with 180lbs I was detonating slightly now I have +set at +4 hope it works out. Thanks again fellas. Ninja Power Quote
BdBanshee Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 Another way to do it is to center punch the side of the key, and then tap it into the keyway. That is what the dot on the side of the stock key is there for. I usually just center punch it in the same place and make it deeper. The silicone probably works great, but this way you don't have to wait for it to dry before reassembling. Just a little trick I've learned from swapping flywheels over the years. Quote
