brokemybanshee Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 I went for a ride a couple weeks ago and my ski pants (its cold out) melted to one of my pipes, I tried scraping it while it was hot but none came off, it looks like shit and I don't dare to go at it with a razor (poor chrome.... ) any suggestions?? spoin39 Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 I use wenol to soften it up and use my fingernail to get the bigger pieces off so it doesn't hurt the chrome. Quote
efward Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 I leave a little bit of my riding pants on my pipes each trip. I haven't tried the above recommendations, but I'll give it a shot. Quote
2001SSTBanshee Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 0000 steel wool , warm up the pipe a little if neded. Quote
00BANSHEE Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 I have had great results with a wet SOS pad. Don't get crazy with it, just work it alittle at a time and the chrome shines right up. Quote
ledofthezep Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 My riding boots rubbed up on my PC's & there's black plastic shit burnt on there good. I figure I'm just going to leave it,...more worried about how it rides/runs than its looks. AND I don't want to have to do that crap all the time. Perhaps when they get really bad I'll just ceramic coat the headers & call it good. Quote
brokemybanshee Posted January 5, 2004 Author Report Posted January 5, 2004 Thanks for the replys, I think I have some acetone kicking around so I'll try that and mabe the SOS pad I was hoping that after it cooled down it'd come right off, but it seems that diddnt work., now theres a black smudge, oh well... I think I'll live Quote
