bigstink Posted December 31, 2003 Report Share Posted December 31, 2003 on my fmf sst pipes i have blueing on the base of one pipe where it comes out of the engine block, but not on the other, the other pipe turns a light brown kinda at the base. engine runs fine, very fast, is my compression off??? i just got the motor rebuilt a couple months ago but am baffled by this problem, thanks for your help. stink Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

While we are on the subject what is the best way to keep new pipes from blueing? Paint the inside with high temp paint or??Thanks for the response! sandfool Posted January 6, 2004 Report Share Posted January 6, 2004 my pipes did the same i am not sure exactly why,i went really big on the mains with the pipes and have come down a few sizes.i suspect it was from using stock pilot jets -i now use 27.5's,the 30's were just too big for my bike. MILO Posted January 6, 2004 Report Share Posted January 6, 2004 couldn't the carb's being out of sync cause that too? and make sure you pull both plugs when checking for proper jetting. it may give you some insight as to what's going on with which cylinder. but an air leak does sound to be the most likely cause.
