Indubitably Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Thats the number one enemy here. whats the entry fee to a race anyways? Quote
Blue Duece Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Fro could do it hes a youngin I'll supply a radiator i got the PWR one and no offense but screw Sundahl see if Gary (AZSandrat) would be interested maybe we could get a cash pool goin too. Gary builds some freakin awesome shit. Lets keep this in the HQ. Also we can try another race to see if we wanna do the 1000 or just see what were capable of. Maybe like Vegas to Reno or somethin, try somethin in the states. Theres more money in BITD than Score anyways. If we have a good showing in a small BITD race then lets race Baja for bragging rights, to show everyone else that Banshee's will kick almost any other quad in the teeth. Damn I need to settle down a bit. all we would need is a roller with some clearence, but that peice of shit frame keiths riding got him across the desert floor pretty damm fast, as cozy as we could make the ride the better cause its a long one, but in the quad class i think the banshee can win its just going to have to be a privateer cause the big guys wanna promote their thumpers.......it would be so sweet to wipe em up with a couple banshee's......and a fun trip to baja is allways nice....... Yamahammer Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 I am down count me in for what ever is needed pit guy chase vehicle Quote
Indubitably Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 I never said Sundahls frame was POS i actually like it my point was that lets try to keep this whole thing in the HQ. That's all I was trying to say. Quote
mcaf29 Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 I'd be down depending on where I'm stationed at the time and what's going on at the time. I wouldn't mind riding, driving or wrenching (I know what you all are thinking after seeing all my posts, " ahh Mcaf, why don't you go over there and get us some water, yeah we got this". I'll be stationed in OHIO for a year now cause the Navy says I gotta play nice with the Air Farce (j/K) and get my aeronautical engineering masters at Wright-Patterson AFB. Then I'm off to P-cola florida for 2 years, then hopefully if everything works out I'll be flying F-18's outta fallon NV for a few years. So basically for the next few years I could go without shee but if we decide to keep it for a few years I'll have my Banshee desert ready when I get to NV. I trust you guys to ride it too. Quote
Meat Posted December 21, 2003 Author Report Posted December 21, 2003 Id volunteer to help a BHQ Baja 1000 team. We have 11 months to prepare, the baja is ususally held in mid November. I dont know how I could help living on the east coast, maybe pitch in a few dollars or borrow a few of my aftmkt parts for the race. The winning team had 5 racing members, I think thats the way to go. Less fatigue on the riders with 5 guys on the team. Im sure the entry fee is minimal, we'd need to know all the rules and regulations. I have an old DirtWheels from the mid 90's featuring Sundahl's Baja winning Banshee, we could get some ideas from that article. I have a 6 gallon aluminum dessert tank, a Lance Shoonmacher tank. Its the same tank that Sundahl used on his Baja Banshee. The quad would need full skids and be completly bulletproof. Everybolt gets safety wired and loc-tite on anything we cant safety wire. Tire Balls for inside all four tires to help with flat tires. Beadlocks are a must. We'd need a fully manned pit crew with some 4x4 chase trucks. Atleast 5 oiled airfilters ready to install. A quick dump gascan would be cool to have. A spare clutch cable should be routed and mounted on the quad. Nice Sidewinder Ti-moly chain and sprockets would be a great idea, they gotta last a long grueling race. I think most of those baja racers strap a GPS on thier quads, so we'd need one of those. What else ? Any other thoughts or ideas ?? I know this will prolly never materialize, but its fun talkin' and planning it out. Recruiting a few sponsors would be a big priority. I vote for NinjaMaster to ride the first leg.... Quote
evil Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 I vote for NinjaMaster to ride the first leg.... I QUITE !!!! WE ALSO NEED A SPARE MOTOR OR 2 WOULDNT HURT, LOTS OF MONEY TOO BUT IM SURE THERE ARE ENOUGH SUPPORTERS ON HERE TO HELP OUT A BUNCH WITH EVERYTHING. Quote
Blue Duece Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 meats right it might take a few riders.....steve and johny won the 1000 on a full honda sponser...i live where these guys are trying to cover miles and miles it is goddamm brutal.....ill pull ten miles straight and stop and just go fucck how can one guy go 10 times this far full on the gas without stopping........the guys we get to ride better be wearing capes cause there gonna be super heroes...it makes a 45 minute moto look like childs play......just fuckin brutal.....but my house can be a base we could start with a 60 mile run...."duece's to dumont" should take a fast rider about 1 hour....ive done it in 75 minutes, but it beats the living shit out of you..... Meat Posted January 4, 2004 Author Report Posted January 4, 2004 Here's a shot of that 6 gallon gas tank I got. Its ugly, but its identical to the one that Sundahl used on his Baja Banshee. Quote
Big Blue Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 I say if everyone gets involved in this we get as many involved as possible and we set the better riders to run up front and get the inexperienced rider to run block on everyone that is not involved with the HQ syndicate, probably not the fairest way to go about it but it would still be fun. Meat Posted January 5, 2004 Author Report Posted January 5, 2004 Blocking tactics, I like that. Whatchas think about that big ugly aluminum gastank ? It holds 6 gallons. I have an old DirtWheels mag where they featured Dean Sundahls Baja Banshee and thats the same tank he has. Said it was a "Lance Shcoonmacher" tank. He also said he uses 28mm PWK's cause they give better gas milage than the bigger carbs. Quote
Big Blue Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 I like the tank does it fit under the plastic, sometime im going to try to make one. I dont think it is ugly just a little banged up. Quote
Meat Posted November 13, 2004 Author Report Posted November 13, 2004 doesnt fit under the gastank plastics. the radiator plastics is used tho, it looks odd. I'll see if i can find a pic off the tank mounted online somewhere. BHQ baja team? I like the tank does it fit under the plastic, sometime im going to try to make one. I dont think it is ugly just a little banged up. 146697[/snapback] Quote
